The Sultan’s Table: A Season of Reflection and the Spirit of Nusantara Sharing at GedungKuning

Updated: 10 minutes ago

As the golden hour descends upon Sultan Gate, a familiar stillness settles over the historic

precinct of Kampong Gelam. The tropical heat begins to yield to a cooling breeze, and the

majestic yellow walls of Gedung Kuning glow with a century of whispered stories. There is a

specific, soulful rhythm that defines this neighborhood during the holy month of Ramadan—a quiet anticipation that breathes through our Palladian columns and into the heart of our kitchen.

At Permata Singapore, we have always believed that food is more than sustenance; it is a vessel for memory and a bridge to our ancestors. This Ramadan, as the call to prayer echoes from the nearby Sultan Mosque, we invite you to step away from the relentless pace of the city and into a sanctuary where the heritage of the Nusantara is served with every plate.

A Culinary Pilgrimage Across the Archipelago

Our Culinary Chef Director has curated this year’s Ramadan spread as a vibrant map of flavors, traversing the spice routes of Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Every dish is a tribute to our shared roots, elevated with the finesse of modern Nusantara techniques.

The journey begins with the Ritual of Bubur Lambuk Permata. This is not merely a porridge;

it is a fragrant embrace of spices and creamy coconut, prepared with the same reverence as the communal pots once stirred in the royal courtyards of old. It is the perfect, warming herald of the feast to come.

As you move through the buffet, you will encounter the Rawon Risotto—the quintessential

embodiment of our "Progressive" philosophy. We take the soul-stirring, earthy depth of the

traditional Javanese buah keluak (black nut) and infuse it into a velvet-smooth risotto. It is a dish that honors the dark, complex flavors of our heritage while embracing a contemporary texture that surprises and delights. For those who crave the bounty of the ocean, our Seafood on Ice station offers a premium selection of fresh prawns, mussels, and clams, providing a crisp contrast to the smokey char of our Ayam Percik Kelantan sizzling at the live stations.

A Sanctuary for the Soul

We recognize that Iftar is a spiritual return as much as a culinary one. To ensure your evening is as peaceful as it is flavorful, we have prepared our mansion to be your sanctuary. Dedicated Musollahs (prayer rooms) for both gentlemen and ladies are available within the quiet, carpeted corners of Gedung Kuning, allowing you to perform your Maghrib prayers in comfort before returning to the warmth of the dining hall.

The ambiance of the "Yellow Mansion" provides a rare sense of belonging. Whether you are

seated beneath our grand chandeliers or in a quiet alcove overlooking the Sultan’s Gate, you are part of a living history.
